Animal welfare campaigners have entered a battery hen farm in Tasmania this week in a plan to draw attention to what they describe as atrocious cruelty. Two members from Against Animal Cruelty Tasmania...including a lawyer say they're so appalled by what they found, they're prepared to appear on camera and risk being charged. An inspection by the RSPCA yesterday found no animal welfare issues. But the RSPCA says the case is not closed. Airlie Ward reports.
(Transcript to be available in a couple of days according to the ABC website, but the story was amazingly harrowing, with crippled, dying, emaciated and featherless hens throughout. Heartfelt congratulations to Emma Haswell and Ben Bartl for their courage, professionalism and excellent footage).
