If you wish to bring an abandoned Greek dog or cat home with you; it will be one of the best things you have ever done for yourself and certainly for the animal! Don't ever think that they do not understand what you have done for them. The fidelity and love of a rescue animal is unsurpassed.
Bring the new member of your family to a vet in your location in Greece for examination, vaccinations and micro chip identification. You will obtain a formal Health Certificate detailing proof of examination, vaccination and a Health Certificate from the Ministry of Agriculture veterinarian in your locale.
Advance and confirmed airline reservations are necessary for your companion animal and a fee will apply. Many airlines allow small dogs or cats to travel in the passenger cabin with you. Please check the requirements and any restrictions with your airline directly and if need be, your embassy.

If you ever do decide to travel to Greece or any country with a history of neglect and cruelty to animals, make sure that upon arrival at your destination, you check with the concierge of your hotel or pension owner for the name, telephone number and address of local veterinarians and keep this information with you at all times.
If you are in Greece or Turkey, please keep my phone number and e-mail address with you at all times. I will help you in every way that I can. Upon your return, voice your concern and displeasure to your travel agent, to friends and associates and send an e-mail to the Greek authorities. You will find the form to the right of this text.
Become active in our campaigns, voice your disapproval in writing, by phone and avoid Greece or any country where neglect and abuse is prevalent; until such countries amend their attitudes and posture towards all animals: companion, farmed, captive and wild.
