A ROAD,
TOO OFTEN TRAVELED
WINDS UP IN A "DEAD" END!
Despite the stereotype that collecting animals is simply a quirky behavior, recent research has pointed to a direct correlation between psychological problems and the tendency to hoard.
"Hoarding is very often a symptom of a greater mental illness, such as compulsive - obsessive disorder. For most hoarders, it is more than likely that their actions are the direct result of a true psycho-pathological state, even though they well be able to function normally in everyday society." HSUS

Once again, the animals are the target victims of a hoarders illness and the consequences are horrifying.
We have all witnessed news reports of homes and "shelters" raided by humane and dept of health officials. The visuals are devastating to anyone with a conscience and compassion. The filth and the stink of suffering and death is a hall mark.
"Animal hoarders may think they are helping their animal friends, but they are just feeding their own twisted psyches. In these instances of aberrant thinking, the saviour becomes the oppressor". Chris Colion
Dr. Gary Petronek, a veterinarian and a professor at Tufts university in Massachusettes who studies animal hoarding, states that "animal hoarding crosses all gender, age, race and socioeconomic lines."

"This is not just about animals," the professor states. "You can get a search warrant, get all the animals out and even win your case in court. But that doesn't address the person, and then they are right back at it. "
"The old adage is they have another cat by the time they're home from the courthouse."

Disgraceful! Shameful! Pathetic! A living humiliation for the officials of the Ministry of Agriculture. We urge Greek officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health to investigate charges of hoarding and intervene humanely for the sake of the animals who suffer from the elements, diease, starvation and physical attack by other animals and for the benefit of Greek citizens who are dealing with situations far beyond their emotional and intellectual control. To allow your country's unfortunate citizens to manifest their signs and symptoms and silent calls for help in such a horrifying and destructive manner in this century is inexcusable, an embarrassment and a blight on your country's progress.

Humanity should not be a deliberative process and furthermore, this issue is sociopolitical and needs to be addressed.
The hideous hoarding situations in Greece and in any country are a reflection of a bungling centralized authority such as the Greek Ministry of Agriculture, which ignores any defined values and standards by which to address blatant violations of humanity.
